About us

MIDCCS is an established accredited K-12th grade school founded in 2009.  At MIDCCS we believe that all aspects of life and learning need to be incorporated in a quality education.  We do not believe that knowledge is only contained within a classroom.  Our program leverages access to the world through both traditional and non-traditional means: a blended environment that mixes the attention students receive within a small school model with digital resources that provide opportunities for students to creatively capture and process knowledge from the world around them. Our goal every day is to provide a positive and engaging environment for our students.  MIDCCS will use the “flipped” model of education, in which teachers deliver content knowledge outside of class so that students can practice, apply, and build on what they have begun to learn. If our lessons end where the teacher finishes, then we have not been successful.

Success at MIDCCS

Students that will find success at MIDCCS are those who are willing to try what is asked of them, to engage with their teachers and peers, and to learn from experiences blended within their studies.  MIDCCS is best suited for students who want to learn new things in new ways and even some new things in old ways! A successful MIDCCS student is one that desires a positive school community and is willing to take responsibility for their role within that community.  We are a diverse community of learners where students who are willing to work hard, both independently and in groups, will find MIDCCS a truly engaging and rewarding place to learn.

Application Process

Applications will be open for the 2021-2022 academic year on November 1, 2020 through March 1, 2021 at 11:00am. Our preferred application method is for families to use the online lottery application.  You may, if needed, download a copy of the application packet, or stop by our front office for a printed copy during the dates of open enrollment.  All applications packets must be postmarked on or before March 1, 2021 or dropped off to the front office by 11:00am on March 1st.  How you choose to apply - online or on paper - does not have any impact on your chances for admission. Applications must be complete, accurate, and received on time.

In order to apply to a charter school, a parent or guardian must be living - "domiciled" - in the state of North Carolina at the time of application.  Non-domiciled families must wait until having moved to NC to apply to the school. Families applying for entry into Kindergarten must be five years old by August 31, 2021 to be eligible for Kindergarten admission. Notwithstanding any law to the contrary, MIDCCS may refuse admission to any student who has been expelled or suspended from a public school under G. S. 115C-218.45.  Furthermore, MIDCCS reserves the right to refuse admission to any student that has not met the academic requirements for the grade level they have applied to enter.  MIDCCS School is open to any North Carolina student who submits a timely application unless the number of applications exceeds the capacity of a grade level, class, or building.  In the event, MIDCCS receives more applicants than space available students will be accepted by a random public lottery on March 11, 2021 at 4:00 pm at Mountain Island Day Community Charter School, if permitted due to Covid-19 guidelines.
