MARINERS DEVELOPMENTAL BASKETBALL PROGRAM

Kindergarten thru 6th grade - Boys and Girls

Athletic Forms to be completed are located here.

With concerns around the COVID-19 virus, Mountain Island Optimist Club (MIOC) cancelled their 2020/2021 recreational basketball season.  MID understands the importance of young students having balance in their daily lives, physically, mentally, and socially.  This has been difficult over the last 9 months.

Still keeping the safety and health of our students as a priority, MID is offering a 9 week basketball program, concentrating on developing the basketball skills of our young athletes as well as some competition against fellow MARINERS.

The program will be held on Saturdays ONLY.  Players will practice skills for approximately 30 minutes, then compete in a scrimmage game for 30 minutes.  Team rosters will be kept small to ensure lots of instruction (8 players max), and rules will be in place to ensure equitable playing time for all players.

The NC Governor has mandated that all players, coaches, spectators, and support staff will wear facemasks at ALL TIMES when in the gymnasium, whether playing, sitting, or coaching. The number of spectators will be limited following NC Governor guidelines.

All players, coaches, and spectators will go through temperature checks, screening questions, and use hand sanitizer before entering gymnasium.  All bleachers, benches, and equipment will be sanitized in between practice/game sessions.
